SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
FORESEEN USE
Swivel weld-on eyebolt intended for lifting loads, generally used to swivel or overturn heavy loads
NOT SUITABLE FOR LIFTING PEOPLE
CE Conformity Declaration
(Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC all. IIA)
We declare that all materials specified in the present declaration are in compliance with all the dispositions related to the Directive 2006/42/EC
CHECK SUITABILITY OF ROTATING EYEBOLTS ART.800 BEFORE USE AND YEARLY
Before each use make sure that:
- The eyebolt shows no defects due to wear, corrosion, cracks, or visible deformations.
- Markings are clearly legible.
- The loads to be lifted are in compliance with the rated capacities of the eyebolt (the working load limits are specified on the eyebolt and in the user manual).
- The diameter of the welded ring has not been reduced by more than 10% of the nominal diameter due to wear at any contact point.
- The play “s” between the bulb and the lower part is within the limits indicated in the chart below:
- The weld is intact and shows no wear, corrosion or cracks
- If these checks give a negative outcome, the eyebolt must not be used any more, and must be replaced.
Please remember:
- Inspections must be carried out by qualified personnel.
- Checks have to be carried out by a qualified staff as the rotating eyebolts series 800 must undergo checks at regular intervals and scheduled in compliance with the laws in force
THE WELD
- The lifting clamp to be welded must be fitted by a qualified person as it is used for lifting operations which must be conducted in compliance with machinery directive 2006/42/EC and subsequent modifications
- The qualified person supervising the lifting operations must always identify the load’s centre of gravity and position the lifting clamp in such a way as to guarantee that the load is always balanced
- Welding must be done by a qualified person in accordance with standard EN ISO 9606
- The materials making up the underside of the weld-on eyebolt is as specified in the table in 23MnNiCrMo5-2 steel in compiance with standard DIN17115 hardened and tempered, and in 39NiCrMo3 steel in compliance with standard EN 10083 hardened and tempered
- The material used for welding must be suitable and must be capable of withstanding the reference loads
- The welding bead must be round and closed
- The minimum thickness of the welding bead is specified in the references table
- Perform at least two overlapping welding beads to guarantee proper penetration
- To weld the hook the preheating temperature should be between 130°C and 170°C .
- Repeated cooling of the welding is forbidden
- Position the eyebolt in accordance with the load to be lifted taking care to avoid unauthorised stresses such as load twisting or overturning
CAPACITY REDUCTION FACTORS
Ambient Temperature Load Limit Reduction
• <-40°C Not permitted
• -40°C to +200°C None
• +200°C to +250°C -10%
• +250°C to +400°C -25%
• >+400°C Not permitted
- Safety Coefficient 4
THE SUPPORTING WALL
- Ensure that it is suitable for welding (ordinary steal with max carbon content of 0.40%); for safety’s sake, request approval from the manufacturer
- Ensure that there are no surface defects, cracks or roughness
- Ensure that it is suitably flat in order to guarantee a good foundation for the surface of the base to be welded
- Ensure that it is large enough to prevent deformations or stress ruptures
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
- On the axial pull there can be variation of +/5o with a 10% decrease in capacity
- The eyebolt can be used safely up to maximum of 20.000 lifts with a full load
- For risky lifting operations safety measures have to be taken for the people who undergo the risk
- If the instructions are not adhered to serious damage can be caused to things and injuries to people
- This documentation has been prepared in compliance with section 1.7.4.2 of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
NOT ALLOWED:
- Not suitable for continuous rotation movement during loading
- Do not use eyebolts in acid high corrosion chemical substance environment and/or in an explosive atmosphere
- Do not use in environments with a temperature higher than 400oC or lower than -40oC
- Do not exceed the capacity specified on the reference chart
- Do not used for operations which defer from the ones that are foreseen
- Do not use to life people
- Do not stand under an overhanging load whilst it is being used
- Do not stand during use in dangerous areas (dangerous areas means areas which are deemed risky due to falling of load during movement with accessories)
- If changes, repairs and/or treatments are made to the product, the terms of the guarantee are no longer applicable and the manufacturer declines all liability.
STORAGE:
The device must be stored in a suitable environment (e.g. dry, non-corrosive, etc.)
DISPOSAL:
The product packaging must be sent for normal recycling
The product must be recovered as metal scrap
